The 6 Step Vacation-Ready Makeup Look For Glowy Skin

Vacation season is finally upon us and after returning recently from a trip to Miami (look out for a Miami travel guide soon), I found the best way to achieve authentically-glowy skin that will make your skin radiate from the inside out. The best part is you only need a few products – and you probably already have most of them in your makeup drawer! Keep reading to find out how to achieve the best dewy/glowy/radiant skin look that will complement those white sand beaches perfectly!

Check out my quick 2 minute makeup tutorial on how to get a beach ready makeup look for those of you who want glowy, dewy skin:

HOW TO GET YOUR OWN VACATION READY GLOWY SKIN MAKEUP LOOK:

Step 1: Sunscreen

Obviously, the first step in ANY daytime makeup routine, whether you’re on vacation or not, should be sunscreen. Sunscreen is always my daytime moisturizer before makeup, and the natural oils always make my skin look glowy. Most sunscreens can be extremely oily, but I found a new favorite that moisturizes and keeps oils at bay – the Neutrogena HydroBoost Sunscreen with SPF 50. This sunscreen contains hyaluronic acid (which you know I’m obsessed with) AND quenches your skin with 8 hour hydration. I’ve definitely found it to have less oils than normal sunscreen, and it has enough SPF for my skin, which makes it the perfect choice for this routine.

Step 2: BB Cream and Lumi Glotion

I’ve been a huge fan of the Maybelline BB Fresh Cream for a year now, so that’s what I prefer to use in humid climates instead of foundation for this routine. You will also need L’Oreal’s Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer – this is an INCREDIBLE product to mix into foundations and create your own glowy foundation mixture that you KNOW will work for your skin. Here’s how you do it: On the back of your hand, squeeze some BB Cream OR foundation, and mix it with two drops of L’Oreal’s Lumi Glotion. This is my power combination for dewy skin. I recently discovered L’Oreal’s Lumi Glotion after I was in search for a dupe for MAC’s Strobe Cream – and I found it. This idea is also incredible for a nighttime look — I’d just take out the sunscreen and replace it with your normal nighttime moisturizer so that you don’t have flashback in any pictures you take.

Step 3: Concealer

Concealer is the secret hero in this entire process because it does so much with so little product. All I have to do in this step is use my Maybelline FitMe Concealer and dab a few spots on my undereyes and any red spots that are still standing out. You can use any concealer you choose, but in this process, it’s best to have something that won’t be too heavy or matte.

Step 4: Blush

I’m not going to lie, I used to NEVER wear blush – it was always uncharted territory that I never wanted to venture into because it seemed like too much intense color. But over the last couple years, I’ve learned that it’s all about having a light hand when applying any product, because you can always add more, but it’s not as easy to take off. Blush is INCREDIBLE for adding color to your face, and when it blends seamlessly with bronzer, it looks amazing. My favorite product (also featured in The Greatest Finds at TJ Maxx For Under $15) is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio. I use my blush brush to apply it very lightly, and it really pulls this entire makeup look together. Remember, the key is that you want to be glowy, but you also want to have a healthy flush on your face.

For a normal makeup look, I’d apply some bronzer, but because I primarily want to appear fresh and healthy, I’m skipping my contour for this routine.

Step 5: Mascara

I absolutely love mascara for making my eyes pop, and the best part about this look is that you don’t even need any eyeliner. The goal is to look fresh and awake, and mascara does the job perfectly. The mascara I used for my look is the Better than Sex Mascara from Too Faced – it has always made my lashes so voluminous and lifted!

Step 6: Lip Gloss

I’m going to be completely honest – I used to NEVER wear lip gloss. I thought it was unnecessary, sticky, and didn’t look good on me. Little did I know, it was perfect for a look like this. My lip gloss of choice is the Anastasia Beverly Hills gloss in Caramel – it makes my lips feel super hydrated, not too sticky, and adds that extra shine to my lips to complete the entire look.

***SETTING SPRAY***

This is an unofficial 7th step because you should ALWAYS use setting spray. No matter what. It should just be a part of your lifestyle, like brushing your teeth. It’s the only way to truly lock in all your makeup and make sure it doesn’t budge throughout the day. If you’re wearing this look for vacation, you may not have time to go back to the hotel that much throughout the day, so it’s super important to ensure that it all stays in place. My favorite setting sprays will always be Morphe’s Continuous Setting Mist and Urban Decay’s All Nighter. Pro tip: if you do use setting spray, it’s always good to have a backup of some concealer in your bag to fix the spots that have moved around a bit.

Anddddd that’s it – that was my simple 6-step makeup routine for vacation ready skin. If you have oily skin, you may not want to go the route of using this many dewy products, but you can always utilize mattifying powders and customize it based on what will work best for YOU and your skin!

What are your favorite products for spring and summer?! There are SO many new products coming out on a daily basis that it’s getting overwhelming – but going to Ulta and Sephora is a pastime for me, so no worries on my end 😉
