Hi everyone, happy Friday eve!
I’m SO happy the week is half over. Lately, I’ve been feeling like I have so much to do and 24 hours is not enough. I’m constantly rushing to places and trying to fit 100 things into my day, and it’s getting to be super overwhelming. But when it comes to my blog, it feels like therapy. I feel like I finally have some time to do what I love and write about things that I love. <3
If you’re here, you probably saw my latest Instagram post showcasing my vanity. It was definitely #pinterestinspired if you couldn’t tell, but this kind of vanity has been a dream of mine for the last couple years. There’s really nothing better than doing your makeup with music playing in the background (or for me, The Office or Friends) and having all the time in the world to do every single step perfectly right. If you’re one of those people who sees makeup as a stress-relief, this vanity setup is for you. Keep reading to find links for the exact products I have, and if I don’t have the exact products, I’ll link similar ones for you to easily find. Exact links will be on the title of the product, and similar links will be in the description.
I got this desk from Walmart, and it was SO easy to self-assemble (took about 20 mins). There is a drawer that comes with it as well, so that’s super convenient for additional storage. For now, I don’t keep anything in there, because you’ll see that I have more than enough storage in my 3-drawer cart (coming up below).
The star of the show, this vanity has completely changed the way I do my makeup. Normally, I always stand at the counter of my bathroom in front of my mirror doing my makeup, and I have a lot of steps in my makeup routine, so this can get exhausting. A vanity mirror is perfect to set atop a table or desk you already have and make use of an empty, unused surface. This mirror is incredible because it has FOUR different light settings, so you can pick and choose the one that fits your skin tone the best. There’s also a button to change the intensity of that lighting, which is a major game-changer. I usually have to make the light less intense so that it looks more natural, but you can change it to whatever you prefer. The size of the mirror is perfect for me – it’s not too big and not too small. Larger mirrors are a pain in terms of shipping and have the ability to get destroyed, so I stayed away from those. I preferred a small-medium sized mirror that fit my entire upper body in the frame, and this one was perfect for that.
I love everything about this chair. It’s SO comfortable and so chic in any room. It’s exactly what I needed for my vanity. It’s definitely on the more expensive side, so I’ve also linked a similar chair here.
Marble Makeup Brush Holder
I got this container at Home Goods, so I wasn’t able to find an exact match online, but I have linked the most similar one I could find here. This container is so perfect for anyone who’s as obsessed with marble as I am. I use it to store all my makeup brushes and any other items I may need on my vanity, like tweezers, nail clippers, and combs.
A lipstick holder is necessary if you have a ton of different lipsticks that you need displayed in an organized fashion. I have all of my most-used lipsticks in this container, organized by color. All of my other lipsticks and lip liners go in my drawer in a special container. This lipstick holder is relatively inexpensive and is definitely aesthetically pleasing for your vanity!
When I set out to “build out” my vanity, I knew I needed a set of drawers to store everything I had. So naturally, I went straight to Home Goods and a white/gold accented drawer immediately caught my eye. It’s the perfect size to go under tables, and has enough space to hold everything I need. IKEA’s Alex drawers are also amazing, but if you don’t want to shell out the $$$ for those, definitely head over to TJ Maxx or Home Goods to find the best drawer set. I’ve linked one that I thought was similar on Amazon!
INSIDE the drawers, you need special containers to separate your makeup. I got these from *drumroll please* The Container Store. If you don’t have one of those near you, just head over to any home improvement store and they’ll have drawer storage compartments for sure. I’ve linked compartments on Amazon in case you don’t want to leave your bed (completely get it). I’ve organized my makeup by powders, liquids (such as foundation and primers), and palettes (highlight, contour). Another container has all of my lipsticks and lip liners as I mentioned earlier, and I also have one for all of my nail polishes.
“Boss” accent piece
This accent piece has been a staple on my desk for a while now. I love pairing gold with pink and white, and it goes so perfectly with the theme of my entire room. There’s nothing long with a little inspiration, either 😉
I bought this piece at TJ Maxx so I couldn’t find the exact item, but found some amazing nameplates that go with the theme here. I’d recommend wandering into the TJ Maxx or Home Goods office area, because you’re sure to find some gems like this there.
Artificial Flowers + Mason Jar
This is probably one of the simplest things you can do and it will cost you under $3. I got these artificial flowers at Dollar Tree, and found the mason jar for $1 at Michael’s. I LOVE real flowers but I honestly don’t have time to maintain them so I always love to keep these artificial flowers that add the prettiest touch to any table. The best part about this idea is that you probably already have some mason jars or other jars laying around that you’re not using – so put them to use by livening up your desk/vanity space!
These frames are my favorite part of my entire vanity (besides the actual mirror itself). I usually just like to print out pictures or buy art prints and put them in frames, like the Coco Chanel and Jimmy Choo frames. I also have some artwork that I bought by the artist Oliver Gal – he has some of the most amazing fashion-themed artwork, and I promise, it’s so hard to choose!
Some of my favorite frames from Oliver Gal:
There are SO many more and there are also many other cheaper alternatives out there, so make sure to find the one that makes your space YOURS. I’ve always said that your environment determines your mood, and I live by this everyday.
I hope this post has been helpful for those of you also looking to spruce up your beauty space. Please let me know if you have any questions or recommendations!
